Since October 1, 2022, the traveling exhibition Transylvanian Landscape of Fortified Churches – A European Cultural Heritage of the Fortified Churches Foundation is located in the premises of the Romanian Honorary Consulate of the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
On the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the foundation of the Transylvanian Saxons in Carinthia, a festive event took place on October 1 in the provincial capital of Klagenfurt, which was attended by numerous participants from Romania and Austria. In the presence of representatives of the city of Klagenfurt and the Carinthian provincial government, the vernissage of the traveling exhibition also took place during the festive event. Ruth István, consultant for expert tourism, presented in an introduction the role of the foundation and the importance of the preservation of the fortified churches.
Deputy Mayor Mag. Alois Dolinar (TK) announced an intensification of Klagenfurt’s town twinning with Sibiu, which was already established in 1996. Udo Puschnig, who was recently awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania and represented the Regional Office of the Carinthian Government, showed great interest in the exhibition and praised the work of the Foundation.
The exhibition Transylvanian Landscape of Fortified Churches – A European Cultural Heritage can be visited until the end of October at the Romanian Honorary Consulate (Klagenfurt, Bahnhofstraße 7) during opening hours (Monday to Friday, 10 h to 12 h) or by appointment.
