The topics of history and traditions of the German minority in Transylvania are studied quite profoundly \u2013 very tangible topics for the students living in Sibiu, especially if they are students of the Brukenthal School. After all, it w<a href=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC_0209-e1485853751163.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4391\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4391 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC_0209-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Brukenthal\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>as the Transylvanian Saxons who were responsible for the educational landscape in Sibiu for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the dances, folklore and culinary traditions one of the modules of the school subject is dedicated to the fortified churches \u2013 still visible witnesses of historic events in Transylvania. In order to explain the context and association between these medieval buildings and the people and communities who constructed them, history teacher Alexander Frohn invited <a href=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC_0253-e1485853807267.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4403\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4403 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DSC_0253-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Brukenthal\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>the Fortified Churches Foundation to conduct this module in the 7<sup>th<\/sup> grade classes.<\/p>\n<p>The students listened to the presentation with great interest, they eagerly filled out their \u201cfortified churches quiz\u201d, and learned about the most important features of the many defence elements of the fortifications as well as the classical structure of Transylvanian villages.
