The old battens were also retained where possible and in good condition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/35_1-e1506511758716.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5869\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5869 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/35_1-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"35_1\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/35_2-e1506511769628.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5872\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5872 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kirchenburgen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/35_2-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"35_2\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ridge tiles were secured by storm clamps and the lightning conductor of the church tower was added. These measures, as well as the interior woodwork that gives better access to the tower, are particularly important for the safety of visitors to the fortified church.<\/p>\n<p>Gutters and other sheet metal work on the tower roof are still on the agenda for the next few weeks before the cold season begins.<\/p>\n<p>A special feature is currently also being worked on: a so-called maintenance route, which leads through the church roof, will simplify the future replacement of tiles or other minor repair work.
