Be a Cultural Heritage Architect: Join the Apold Heritage Lab II!

Join us for a unique experience where you’ll explore and contribute to the revitalization of Saxon parish houses, true architectural gems of Transylvania. Over two intense weeks, you’ll delve into history, learn traditional restoration techniques, and design modern solutions for the reuse of these historic spaces.

What You’ll Experience:
- Historical research: Study Saxon parish houses in Apold, Daia, Vulcan, Movile, and other villages, guided by heritage experts.
- Practical workshops: Master restoration techniques for wood, stone, and masonry – essential skills for preserving built heritage.
- Collaborative projects: Develop design proposals for the adaptive reuse of Apold’s former parish house.
- Study visits: Explore nearby villages for an authentic perspective on parish houses and their cultural context.
Program Modules:
- History of Saxon Parish Houses – Coordination: UAIM, Faculty of Conservation/Restoration, Sibiu
- Architecture and Interior Design – Coordination: UAIM, Faculty of Conservation/Restoration, Sibiu
- Traditional Carpentry: Ongoing workshops with a traditional carpentry craftsman
- Traditional Masonry: Techniques for historical masonry and plasterwork, guided by specialists
- Traditional Joinery: Restoration of historical roofs

Special Guests – Professional restorers will lead workshops on preserving historical frescoes and stone elements, offering valuable insights into these rare crafts.
