Fortified churches exhibition comes to Switzerland

The travelling exhibition of the Fortified Churches Foundation will be shown at two locations in Switzerland this autumn. The initiative came from Marianne Hallmen, President of the Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Switzerland, and the occasion is the tenth anniversary of the founding of the association.

The Association of Transylvanian Saxons in Switzerland was founded in 2015 on the initiative of Marianne Hallmen and several supporters. It is committed to the rescue, maintenance and sustainable use of the Transylvanian Saxon cultural heritage in Romania and works in a close network with numerous partners. The association has also been a member of the umbrella organisation Siebenbürgisch-Sächsischer Kulturrat for several years.

Several festive events are planned this year to mark the tenth anniversary of the organisation’s founding. These include the presentation of the travelling exhibition on the Transylvanian Landscape of Fortified Churches. This will be shown at the association’s headquarters in Einsiedeln (Canton Schwyz) in the FRAM Museum  from 12th to 27th October 2024. The official opening will take place on 12th October from 19:00. Afterwards, the exhibition can be visited at the following times

Wed – Fri: 2.00 – 6.00 pm

Sat – Sun: 11.00 am – 6.00 pm

The exhibition will be shown in Zurich beforehand. From 26th September to 9th October 2024, it can be viewed daily from 09.00 to 17.00 at the Alterszentrum Hottingen (Freiestrasse 71).
