From 11th to 13th January the Fortified Church Foundation was represented at the trade fair Monumento in Salzburg/Austria. Its opening marks the beginning of the European Cultural Heritage Year that will provide a large number of projects that deal with the common grounds of European heritage. The Foundation had been invited by the export promotion agency „Bayern Handwerk International“, that had already sent a delegation to Transylvania in spring 2017. This year, the international trade fair opened its gates for the 4th time.
The program targeted a large and international public: archeologists, restorers, architects, planners and civil engineers as well as art historians, tradesmen, local politicians, manufacturers, clients and investors had come to exchange trends and synergies in the domain of preservation of historical and cultural monuments.
Furthermore, numerous initiatives, associations, institutions and foundations took the opportunity to present their work and make interesting contacts. During the trade fair a round table with “Bayern Handwerk International”, the Saxonian Foundation, the “Bauninnung Munich” and the Romanian National Institute of Heritage (Institutul National de Patrimoniu) took place to find possibilities for future cooperation.
The display of the travelling exhibition “The Transylvanian Landscape of Fortified Churches. A European Cultural Heritage” that was already presented in Berlin, Bucharest and other cities rounded the presence of the Fortified Churches Foundation off.
