Episcopal Palace in the “Case Deschise” Event Series

For several years now, important landmarks in Romania have been opening their doors to the general public in the “Case Deschise” (“Open Houses”) project, initiated by the Ordinul Arhitecților din România – Filiala Sibiu-Vâlcea. This year, the Episcopal Palace / Filek House on the Grand Square in Sibiu was included in the event series for the very first time.

The response was remarkable: during three guided tours, nearly 150 visitors discovered the architectural and historical features of this extraordinary historic building and its eventful past. Many guests described the brief “audience” with Reinhart Guib as a special highlight of the day. The bishop personally welcomed the visitors and offered insights into his work as well as into his office in the Episcopal Palace.

The The Fortified Churches Foundation organized the guided tours and welcomed the guests, rounding off the visit with a small sweet refreshment.
