In October and November 2025, the Fortified Churches Foundation – in close cooperation with the Evangelical Church Community of Nußbach and the HOG Nußbach – carried out an urgently needed emergency intervention project. The measures became necessary due to repeated water infiltration in the nave roof and issues with the drainage of rainwater. To prevent further damage to the historic structure, short-term securing and repair works were implemented.
Implemented Measures
Despite a limited budget of 1,800 euros, important works to stabilize and maintain the building were successfully completed.
Repair of the Roof Covering at the Choir and Nave
-
Replacement of damaged roof tiles by inserting new ones from the inside at more than 20 difficult-to-access areas
-
Repair of major damaged sections at the tower canopy, including heavily moss-covered tiles
-
In total, around 80 roof tiles were replaced
-
Securing and reinforcing broken battens in three areas
Work on Gutters and Downpipes
-
Cleaning of all gutters and downpipes
-
Visual inspection for damaged or leaking components
-
Replacement of an approximately 8-meter section of guttering on the south side
-
Repair of three leaking connection points
These works are part of the regular maintenance and conservation measures required to ensure the proper functioning of the roof and to prevent moisture-related damage.
Afterward, the wooden ceiling beams and wall plates were roughly cleaned to remove dirt and deposits.
